“The Trump administration may want to use the fake repeal of HB 2 as an excuse to further turn their backs on the transgender community, but the rest of us aren’t going to give up that easily,” said James Esseks, director of the ACLU’s LGBT Project.
"The longer you’re undocumented, the more stigma there is. It’s like you’re ‘too undocumented’ for health care; you can’t afford it—not the time off, not the time away from earning, none of it,” Concepcion, an immigrant woman from Chicago, told Rewire.
Withdrawing the rule hinders the ability of four million Title X patients, including 1.5 million Planned Parenthood patients, to access quality, affordable health care.
"This bill is absurd, unconstitutional, and further proof that some North Carolina legislators remain committed to discriminating against LGBT people and their families," said Sarah Gillooly, policy director for the American Civil Liberties Union of North Carolina.
