More than 30 percent of the world’s incarcerated women live in the United States, but little remains known about the gender-specific health conditions they face.
As a physician whose job it is to care for my patients, I won’t stop asking why this administration is so fiercely invested in controlling reproductive decisions domestically and abroad.
By standing in the way of progress, Republicans are showing they don’t understand the lived experience of disabled people and their families, and don’t understand that their voices are required at any policy table.
“The fear and the panic is palpable for people who are in danger of losing their power, losing their water, losing other utilities” due to unpaid fines tacked onto their bills by the city, said one attorney with the Southern Center for Human Rights.
“Even if we give this detention center the benefit of the doubt and say they had good intentions, it’s important that the American public not underestimate how traumatizing these facilities are."
