Emily Sullivan
Emily joins RHTP after graduating from the University of Maryland in May 2010, with a B.S. in Public and Community Health and a concentration in Women’s Studies. She spent her last semester interning for A Wider Circle as a Well Mother, Well Baby intern, where she worked closely with teen mothers and fathers, promoting healthy pregnancy and positive parenting. Prior to her work at A Wider Circle, Emily held a research assistant position where she interviewed HIV positive individuals on their adherence to their medication schedule. While interning for Children’s Defense Fund, in their Child Health Department, Emily acquired health policy advocacy skills. She gained an even deeper interest in reproductive health and rights while volunteering abroad in Tanzania last summer. During her time abroad, she focused on building support of a single mother’s tailoring group, which provided women with the stability they needed to care for their families and themselves. Emily currently volunteers as a victim advocate for Prince George’s Hospital Center’s Sexual Assault Center.
