Rep. Jackie Speier
Jackie Speier is a U.S. representative for California’s 14th District and the co-chair of the Democratic Women’s Caucus.
She authored the resolution passed by the House in 2021 that would remove the deadline for ratification of the Equal Rights Amendment and has worked to ratify the ERA throughout her tenure in Congress. Rep. Speier also brought the #MeToo reckoning to Congress in 2017 and passed sweeping legislation to hold members of Congress personally liable for harassment, and she authored the provisions to remove sexual assault and other serious felonies from the chain of command and made sexual harassment a criminal offense in the military that were passed in the FY22 National Defense Authorization Act.
She has served in Congress since 2008.
