Shining Some Light on Last Month’s Reproductive Health Wins ☀️

Join us as we soak up these recent wins!
Whenever you need the facts, good or bad, on all things reproductive and sexual health, rights, and justice, you know we’ve got you covered. After all, we’ve been the only national nonprofit newsroom exclusively talking about these issues since 2012.
Today we’re back to remind you of the bright spots daringly bursting through the storm clouds.
Here are some recent wins we’re celebrating:
Nevada becomes the sixth state with abortion rights on this year’s ballot.
The Nevadans for Reproductive Freedom needed 102,362 signatures to get the constitutional amendment added. More than 200,000 people signed their petition.
Rhode Island Gov. Dan McKee signed three bills enacting laws supporting reproductive health care and LGBTQ+ rights.
The new laws include providing legal protections for health providers who administer gender-affirming or reproductive care.
New Jersey state Senate Majority Leader Teresa Ruiz proposed a nine-bill package to better provide and protect reproductive health care in the state.
The top bill requires health insurance carriers and certain businesses and programs to fund abortions.
We’re also breathing a little easier now that mifepristone access and emergency abortions in Idaho cases have survived this Supreme Court term—for now. However, despite how other news outlets are reporting on these issues, the fight goes on. For more on this, check out Garnet Henderson’s reporting on the mifepristone and EMTALA verdicts, and our Boom! Lawyered episode.
At Rewire News Group, we combat the misleading mainstream coverage with expert fact and analysis. We’re here to inform you—and provide hope and inspiration in dark times.
With your support, we can reach and inspire even more people with our in-depth reporting.
