Next Week, the Nuns Are Coming for Your Birth Control
Next week, the Supreme Court is going to hear arguments in two consolidated cases that could kill off the birth control benefit for good. Jessica Mason Pieklo and Imani Gandy preview everything you need to know.
The U.S. Supreme Court will hear arguments next week in two consolidated cases that could kill the birth control benefit for good. Trump v. Pennsylvania and Little Sisters of the Poor Saints Peter and Paul Home v. Pennsylvania are perfect examples of conservative efforts to game the legal system for a desired policy outcome—in this case, by creating a huge regulatory loophole for businesses, churches, colleges, and universities to ignore laws they don’t like. And taking center stage are the Little Sisters of the Poor, who have become some of the most prominent bad-faith actors in the fight over the birth control benefit. On top of it all, the Supreme Court oral arguments will be live-streamed for the first time in history.
On this episode of Boom! Lawyered, Jessica Mason Pieklo and Imani Gandy preview everything coming our way next week.
