Full Bill Text

HB 1205 would give parents the right to refuse gender-affirming health-care treatment for their child.

The bill would allow a parent to refuse to consent to any health-care treatment of a minor if the parent believes that the treatment would “induce, confirm, or promote the child’s belief that the child’s sex or gender identity is different from the child’s sex presented at birth.”

The bill defines “health care” to be construed broadly and to include medical, psychiatric, psychological, and counseling services.

The bill would prohibit the state from taking any action against a parent for exercising their right to refuse.
