Full Bill Text
SB 118 would require a physician to perform a fetal ultrasound on a pregnant patient at least 48 hours before the performance of an abortion.
The law would require a physician to inform the pregnant patient (orally and in writing) of the availability of fetal ultrasound imaging at least 48 hours before the performance of an abortion.
This bill increases the current waiting period by 30 hours and requires the physician to immediately perform the fetal ultrasound after informing the patient of the availability.
Additionally, the bill would require the pregnant patient to view the fetal ultrasound imaging and listen to the auscultation of the fetal heart tone, if audible.
