Current
Hawaii Revised Statutes section 453-16 allows individuals and hospitals to refuse to participate in abortion procedures. Any person or entity that refuses to participate in abortion procedures may not be held liable for such refusal.
The law, enacted in 1970 and last amended in 2008, does not require the refusing individual or hospital to provide notification or a referral for abortion services for patients seeking such services.
