HB 633 amends Florida’s informed consent law to add a requirement that a physician performing an abortion must satisfy all of the informed consent requirements 24 hours prior to the abortion and must do so while physically present in the same room as the patient. This provision does not apply in cases of medical emergency.
This bill adds a 24-hour waiting period and a requirement that a patient make an extra trip to the physician in order to listen to state-mandated information prior to obtaining an abortion.
