Linda Hirshman
Linda R.Hirshman retired as the Allen/Berenson Distinguished Visiting Professor of Philosophy and Women’s Studies at Brandeis University in 2002.
She is the author of “Get to Work: A Manifesto for Women of the World,” (Viking, 2006, Penguin 2007). Since the publication of “Get to Work,” she has become a regular commentator on issues of politics, philosophy and the role of women in government and society. Her work has appeared, most recently, in the New York Times Magazine (“Sixteen Ways of Looking at a Female Voter,” 2/3/2008) and The Washington Post (“Looking to the Future: Feminism Has to Focus, 6/6/2008). She is a regular contributor to the online magazine, Slate, and to the Huffington Post. She is at work now on a book, “The Perverse Year of the Woman” on the effect of the gender divide on American politics, particularly the forthcoming election.
