Gregory Starrett

Gregory Starrett is Professor of Anthropology at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. His work focuses on the anthropology of religion, with a particular emphasis on Islam. He is the author of Putting Islam to Work: Education, Politics, and Religious Transformation in Egypt (UC Press, 1998) and co-editor of Teaching Islam: Religion and Textbooks in the Middle East (Lynne Rienner, 2007)
