Emily Horowitz

Emily Horowitz is an Associate Professor of Sociology and Criminal Justice and Co-chairs the Women’s Center at St. Francis College. She has published studies and articles on the way the media covers crime, false confessions, and educational inequality. She advocates on behalf of falsely accused and wrongfully convicted, specializing in the application of social science research to criminal cases. She received her Ph.D. in Sociology from Yale University, and her dissertation examined the extent to which domestic violence courts utilize feminist theory and ideology. Her current research examines the problems faced by incarcerated women and their children.
