Amy McDowell is an assistant professor of Sociology at the University of Mississippi. Her research focuses on religion, gender, race and popular culture and has been published in Gender & Society, Sociology of Race and Ethnicity, and Sociology of Religion. Her current project examines how conservative American Christians defend their communities against progressive social change.
