Rewire.News Announces Galina Espinoza as President and Editor in Chief
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE | February 6, 2020
Rewire.News—the leading nonprofit media organization devoted to reporting on reproductive and sexual health, rights, and justice—announced today that Galina Espinoza will join the organization as its new president and editor in chief, effective immediately.
Espinoza is a 25-year journalism veteran and one of the most prominent Latina voices in media company leadership. She brings experience as an editorial director and a journalist covering social issues, including reproductive health care, gender violence, and more. She has also developed innovative content partnerships between prominent brands such as NBC Sports and Refinery29, and with leading online outlets, including BuzzFeed.
“With state legislatures from Alabama to Ohio angling to criminalize abortion, and the Supreme Court about to consider limits on contraception coverage, there has never been a more important time to report on reproductive rights and sexual health,” said Galina Espinoza, the new president and editor in chief of Rewire.News. “I’m thrilled for the chance to lead an award-winning publication with such a strong perspective on these issues.”
“More people need to know about the attacks on their rights—and their bodies—that are fueled by the well-funded anti-choice movement,” said Bryan Howard, CEO of Planned Parenthood Arizona and board chair of Rewire.News. “Galina Espinoza brings the vision and experience Rewire.News needs to expand the impact of its essential coverage now and in the years ahead.”
