Lupita Gutierrez
Lupita Gutierrez is the board chair of Planned Parenthood South Texas Votes. Her family and political roots go back to the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas, where in 1988 she first chaired and managed, Valley Vote ’88, a voter registration and education effort led by the Southwest Voter Registration and Education Project.In 1989, she moved with her family to San Antonio to act as Campaign Manager for Bexar County for Ann Richards’ gubernatorial campaigns in 1990 and 1994. Her success in that campaign led her to act as Campaign Manager for Bexar County for the victorious Bill Clinton campaigns of 1992 and 1996. While Ann’s campaign was ultimately defeated in 1994, Bexar County voters overwhelmingly supported Ann’s reelection that year. She has also managed numerous successful San Antonio City Council campaigns.Gutierrez has been the successful owner of an international insurance brokerage specializing in servicing both domestic and international clientele for their life, health, travel and specialty risk coverage needs for over 25 years.
