Uninsured and low income women in New Jersey may soon breath a sigh of relief, as Democrats in the state legislature are attempting to restore family planning funding back to the budget.

The Senate budget committee Thursday approved a bill that would restore $7.5 million to continue subsidizing uninsured women’s health and family planning services eliminated in Governor Christie proposed budget.

The eight Democrats on the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee approved a bill that would specify none of the 58 health centers would use the money for abortions.

Governor Christie removed the additional funding in March, depite the fact that every dollar cut would lose the state four dollars in federal aid, according to the Family Planning Association of New Jersey.
