Rewire.News Will Be Here to Report on How COVID-19 Is Affecting Reproductive Health Care
COVID-19 is having a profound impact on family planning health services, including access to abortion care and birth control. Rewire.News remains vigilant in covering these developments.
To our Rewire.News community,
I wanted to personally reach out and let you, our valued supporters, know the actions we’re taking to help ensure we all stay healthy and informed in the face of the coronavirus, or COVID-19.
At Rewire.News, our mission has always been to provide the most timely, factual coverage on reproductive and sexual health, rights, and justice. That mission has now taken on new urgency in light of the global pandemic. COVID-19 is having a profound impact on family planning health services, including access to abortion care and birth control.
With the news evolving seemingly by the hour, the entire Rewire.News team is, first and foremost, taking care of each other. As a remote staff, we are practicing physical distancing and following all other recommendations by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to help flatten the curve—while at the same time working to bring you the latest and most accurate information affecting our reproductive and sexual health.
The coronavirus has also disrupted the court system, but we’ll continue to track what’s happening in state legislatures and federal courts when we can. There are a number of pending bills and cases that could result in devastating health-care consequences. While there is, of course, a fear that some might try to take advantage of a distracted public, we remain ever-vigilant in reporting on these efforts.
