Welcome to Rewire 2.0
Notice anything different? Rewire takes one more step into the New Media future, moving progressive ideas about reproductive health further, faster.
Today Rewire begins a new chapter building on the new media success that our growing community of sexual and reproductive health advocates helped create. Television, radio, and newspaper readership are all trending down as primary sources for news and information but Internet publications are trending up and reaching out, connecting with people in new ways. Today Rewire takes one more step into the future moving progressive ideas about reproductive health further, faster.
What's New?
Front Page and Interior Sections. Think of us as an online publication with a front page to lead you to more dynamic content through the entire site. By clicking section headlines, such as "Breaking News" or Leading Voices" or "Latest Commentary" you will be taken to sections dealing just with those topics. Every section headline is an active link, so click all over the front page and find out where it leads you. Watch for more changes coming to the interior pages soon! Happy Clicking!
Feature Series. Today we launch with Earth & Birth, a look at intersections of reproductive health and environmental issues for Earth Day. This series will run through April 30, and then be replaced with a new feature series each week. All pieces will be posted so you can come back and read them at your leisure throughout the week. Click the pic to find them!
Lead Posts. To the right of the feature series will be the three newsworthy posts.
Global Perspectives. For the last two weeks we've been introducing you to new writers from India, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Chile, Philippines, Jamaica, Canada, and Thailand. These writers bring us news, commentary and analysis of reproductive health issues in their regions and contribute to feature series reporting, enabling RH Reality Check to better compare and contrast issues. Reproductive health represents issues of our common humanity and knows no borders. Click the Global Perspectives Box at the base of "Latest Commentary" to take you exclusively to our international section!
Leading Voices. You've been reading them as Feature Guest Bloggers for the past year, but regardless if they run major organizations or represent the ideas and hopes of youth from all parts of the world, to us they are voices of progressive leadership that are important for more people to hear. These writers work every day on the front lines of reproductive health and we are honored to share their point of view with the world.
TV Reality. A post of sometimes funny, sometimes informative, always important video pertaining to sexual and reproductive health. Check in for a few minutes of TV Reality and share it with your friends. Stay tuned as we expand our multi-media offerings in the weeks to come! You can get your own RSS Feed of just this feature too!
Exclusive RH Search. Using the power of Google, we've selected more than 200 premium web sites dealing with sexual and reproductive health issues so that when you do your online research at Rewire, you will search among only the very best of the reproductive health information available online. So why go anywhere else? Book mark us now and visit every time you think "I'll Google that" knowing your search will be faster and better with our Exclusive RH Search. If your evidenced-based organization or site doesn't come up when you search by its name, let us know and we'll add it. James Dobson need not apply.
RH Wiki. As a registered user you can login and suggest changes to our Fact v. Fiction, About the Right, Issue Briefs, Policy Watch and Reckless Rhetoric sections using RH Wiki. Add your organization's latest report and increase its visibility in search engines.
RH Glossary. The orange dotted underlines help people learning the issue to understand the insider jargon. Suggest new terms to be added by using the Wiki.
Breaking News. This section will evolve as we add powerful new information management systems to our site enabling us to bring you news important to the reproductive health community faster and direct from sources around the world. For now, enjoy the daily Kaiser Feed and keep checking back as we diversify our news content.
Commentary. This section is the headlines from the blog. As with any part of this new front page, click on what you want to read or watch and you will be taken right to it.
Anchor. Lastly, our page is anchored at the bottom with the most recent posts in each of our primary tagging categories. If you are primarily interested only in news about contraception or sexuality education, you can subscribe to an RSS feed only for those posts, or just check down to see what's recent, and of course, who else is reading what as demonstrated in our Most Popular box.
And just in case you think we're done … think again! But for now, welcome to Rewire 2.0, we're glad you're here and hope you'll come back for your daily dose of REALITY!
As always, we'd love your feedback in the comment string below!
