I’m Mallory Johns, and I’m thrilled to introduce myself as the new executive director of Rewire News Group. Usually, you hear from the incomparable Jess Pieklo, who keeps you informed, inspired, and occasionally riled up week after week. I’m honored to take a moment in this space to say hello and share how excited I am to join this remarkable team. Stepping into this role at such a consequential moment for our nation—and for Rewire—is a privilege. I can’t think of a mission more vital to fight for or a better team to stand with in this critical time.
What drew me to Rewire was its unwavering commitment to this mission. In a time when misinformation threatens public understanding and trust, and when voices championing reproductive justice are often drowned out by political noise, Rewire News Group stands as a beacon of truth. It’s not just about reporting the news; it’s about shaping the conversation, challenging the status quo, and ensuring that people have access to accurate information in the fight for their rights and freedoms.
As someone with a deep personal passion for reproductive justice and equality, I’m inspired by the incredible work this team produces daily. From groundbreaking investigations to sharp-witted commentary, Rewire’s work is the foundation on which critical conversations about the future of our democracy, health-care systems, and human rights are built.
As I step into this new role, my goal is to build on this legacy while thinking boldly about how we can grow. My career has been dedicated to audience engagement and digital transformation, and I’m excited to bring that experience to bear for Rewire. I strive to be both the steady presence this complex media landscape demands and the creative force that helps drive bold, transformative vision. Together with this extraordinary team, I’m confident that we can expand Rewire’s reach, amplify our impact, and ensure that we remain the trusted voice people turn to for accurate, uncompromising journalism.
The road ahead won’t be easy. The challenges facing reproductive rights, health, and justice—and the media that covers it—are profound. But I believe deeply in the power of information to create change and in the passion and resilience of this community. Rewire’s work is more than essential; it’s a lifeline for truth and justice in an era when both are under threat.
Thank you for standing with us and for your continued support of Rewire News Group. I look forward to this journey with you and to the incredible work we’ll do together.
