In South Dakota, the pandemic showed the rest of the country what a post-Roe America could look like as abortion access evaporated in the state, with the effects rippling across South Dakota’s borders.

A failed national response to the coronavirus meant conservative lawmakers focused on confirming more unqualified Trump judges rather than providing any economic relief to the millions struggling to stay afloat as the pandemic closed schools and businesses.

As hospitals filled with COVID-19 patients, birth centers have stepped up to fill the urgent need for pregnant patients to be able to deliver their babies safely.

And as an extended quarantine set in, sex workers adapted like so many of us did by moving their work online.
