On May 25, Rewire hosted a virtual book discussion featuring Jill Filipovic to discuss The H-Spot: The Feminist Pursuit of Happiness.

For women, Filipovic argues, pursuing happiness is a complicated endeavor: Happiness is indelibly shaped by the constraints of gender, the expectations of feminine sacrifice, and the myriad ways that womanhood itself differs along lines of race, class, location, and identity.

Women at every economic level find themselves stretched thin as the bar of achievement for them has only gotten higher, she notes, while men enjoy the ability to “have it all” thanks to free female labor.
