Dunkerton Principal Chris Woods, the man who invited the You Can Run But You Can’t Hide evangelical Christian band run by Bradlee Dean to speak at his secondary school, announced last week that he would resign from the school effective at the end of the year.

Mike Cooper, who oversees grades 7-12 at the school in Dunkerton, will tender his resignation Monday and remain on the job through the end of the school year, Dunkerton Superintendent Jim Stanton told the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier for a story published Tuesday.

Stanton said Cooper’s decision is not related to Cooper’s recommendation that the district invite the band Junkyard Prophet to perform at last week’s assembly, and said the plan had been “in the works” for nearly a month.

Dean, who has caused endless controversy in Minnesota with both his evangelical ministry and his well-known anti-gay prayer at the State Capital, planned to return to the town to defend himself against the “radical leftists” and to show video that would prove that everyone actually loved his presentation, but claims he was threatened by the town’s fire chief if he should ever come back.
