Are All Virginia Elections About Abortion?
Yet another Virginia Democrat is being targeted by an anti-choice group.
It is getting to a point where you have to wonder if there are any issues being discussed in Virginia besides abortion.
First, Republican senate challenger Dick Black is leading in his district, despite once calling birth control pills “baby pesticides” and claiming you can’t prosecute spousal rape.
Then, Democrat Mamie Locke is ambushed in front of her church by an anti-choice group calling her a “baby-killer.”
Now, Democratic Senator Edd Houck is being attacked by “No Excuse Ministry.” The group is passing out fliers in African-American neighborhoods in his district claiming the sitting state senator wants to “kill black babies.”
Via Fredricksburg.com:
The flier, apparently passed out in the Mayfield neighborhood over the weekend, comes from No Excuse Ministry, run by Fredericksburg resident Terry Beatley. Beatley is a parental-rights and anti-abortion activist who has been working this fall to oust Houck, based on his votes in the state Senate on bills related to abortion and parental rights.
This particular flier says that Margaret Sanger, an early advocate of birth control whose work led to the founding of Planned Parenthood, was a racist who gave talks to the Ku Klux Klan, and that Planned Parenthood puts abortion clinics in black neighborhoods “not by accident.”
The flier says that Houck is supported by Planned Parenthood and that voters in the 17th state Senate district should vote against Houck and “save our children from the abortion industry’s agenda.”
So who is “No Excuse Ministry?” Apparently, a PAC that advocates “advancing the Christian worldview in politics.” And, it has received a sizable contribution from… Virginia’s Republican Speaker of the House.
The GOP speaker is giving large sums of money to a group advocating to have more of his party elected to senate? How is that not a campaign issue, instead of abortion?
