I spent the better part of last week attending the Netroots Nation 2011 convention, and by far the most interesting panel I attended was “Ask A Sista.” The panel of women gave me a perspective on race that I don’t often get to experience first hand. Especially shocking to me? When moderator Cheryl Contee of Jack and Jill Politics asked the panel to raise their hands if they had ever been mistaken for a prostitute, and everyone’s hands went up.
