Congress To Vote On H.R. 3 This Week
Wednesday the House will vote again to try and defund Planned Parenthood, and the Family Research Council is leading the crusade.
The conservative movement’s endless fixation on defunding women’s health care will be marching onward this week, as H.R. 3, a new House bill demanding that Planned Parenthood be defunded, will be put to a vote on Wednesday.
Family Research Council is going all out in their efforts to push the bill, including a newly launched radio campaign.
Politico reports:
The socially conservative Family Research Council Action’s Super PAC is launching radio ads in six Democratic and six Republican congressional districts, pushing House members to vote for H.R. 3, the “No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act,” which would end federal funding for Planned Parenthood. The bill is up for a vote on Wednesday.
“For 35 years, the Hyde Amendment has protected federal tax dollars from being used for abortion. Obamacare changed that,” says the narrator, introducing a recording of the late Rep. Henry Hyde saying that “abortion is a lethal assault against the very idea of human rights and destroys, along with a defenseless little baby, the moral foundation of our democracy.”
The ad buy is very small, and will be in 12 states, meaning that either the Christian stations being used are providing excellent deals or it’s a buy meant more to garner free media coverage on the actual buy than anything else. The ads will run in the districts of Charlie Bass (R-NH), Mary Bono Mack (R-CA), Richard Hanna (R-NY), Shelly Capito (R-WV), Christopher Gibson (R-NY), Nan Hayworth (R-NY), Jason Altmire (D-PA), Henry Cuellar (D-TX), Dennis Cardoza (D-CA), Jim Costa (D-CA), Mike Doyle (D-PA) and Marcy Kaptur (D-OH).
