Health Care on Trial at the Supreme Court

Will the Affordable Care Act survive this latest legal assault?

Today, the Supreme Court heard oral arguments in a case that threatens to finally do what conservatives have spent the last ten years failing at: striking down the Affordable Care Act.

The last time they tried to repeal President Barack Obama’s landmark legislation was in 2017, right before the 2018 midterms. But the people pushed back. So while Republicans didn’t gut the ACA, they managed to change one crucial element, which is the basis for the current case, California v. Texas.

#TeamLegal live tweeted the oral arguments this morning, and now they’re back with a special episode of Boom! Lawyered, where Jessica Mason Pieklo and Imani Gandy break down the key battles and what they portend for the future of our health-care system.
