HB 97 would prohibit an abortion from being performed after the embryo or fetus has a detectable fetal heartbeat, except when necessary to save the health or life of the pregnant woman.
The bill defines detectable fetal heartbeat as “cardiac activity or the steady and repetitive rhythmic contraction of the fetal heart within the gestational sac that is detectable using standard medical equipment.”
