HB 4282 would change the name of the Unborn Victims of Violence Act to the Unborn Victims of Domestic Abuse Act.

Under the Unborn Victims of Violence Act, a pregnant woman and the embryo or fetus she is carrying in the womb constitute separate and distinct victims, wth the exception of “acts or omissions of a pregnant woman with respect to the embryo, or fetus she is carrying”.

This bill would amend this exception to read “acts or omissions of a pregnant woman with respect to the embryo, fetus, or person she is carrying.”
