HB 4593 would have enacted the Women’s Health Protection Act. The bill would have required a physician with admitting privileges at a hospital located within thirty miles of the abortion clinic to remain on the premises of the abortion clinic in order to facilitate the transfer of emergency cases if hospitalization of an abortion patient or a child born alive is necessary. That physician would have been required to remain on the premises until all abortion patients are stable and ready to leave the recovery room.
