HB 2782 would amend the Washington Law Against Discrimination to prohibit a transgender person from using a restroom of the gender they identify with.
The bill states that current anti-discrimination laws do not grant the right to any person who possesses male anatomy or male DNA to enter into or use a public or private facility that is open to the public and is or has been segregated by gender for the private use of those who possess female anatomy or female DNA including, but not limited to, a bathroom, restroom, toilet, shower, locker room, or sauna. Any person who possesses female anatomy or female DNA would not have the right to enter into or use a public or private facility that is open to the public and is or has been segregated by gender for the private use of those who possess male anatomy or male DNA.
STATUS
The bill is in response to new rules enacted by the Human Rights Commission, allowing trans people to use bathrooms based on their gender identity or gender expression.
