Full Bill Text
HB 1409 would prohibit certain types of discrimination by state contractors, except for sexual orientation or gender identity. The bill would also prevent the government from requiring any contractor to agree to additional nondiscrimination laws that are not otherwise required.
Additionally, no public body would be able to require a faith-based organization to agree to additional nondiscrimination provisions that are not otherwise required by this bill.
The bill was in response to Governor McAuliffe signing an Executive Order directing state agencies to comply with the U.S. Supreme Court same-sex marriage ruling.
