HB 1090 would prohibit the state Department of Health from entering into contracts or providing grant funds to health centers that also provide abortion.
The bill prohibits the Department of Health from spending any funds on an abortion that is not qualified for matching funds under the Medicaid program or providing any grants or other funds to any entity that performs such abortions.
STATUS
The bill was passed by the House on February 16, 2016. The bill moved to the Senate where it was passed on March 7, 2016. The bill was vetoed by Gov. Terry McAuliffe (D) on March 29th, 2016.
