SB 33 would have removed from the Texas Woman’s Right to Know Act (passed in 2003 (SB 835) and amended in 2011(HB 15)) the provision that requires an abortion provider to inform a woman seeking abortion that induced abortions increase the risk of breast cancer.
An increase in risk of breast cancer is not supported by medical research. In fact, a new study confirms that there is no causative link between abortion and breast cancer.
