Full Bill Text
SB 1198 would have required that physicians have admitting privileges at a hospital that is located no more than 30 miles from where the abortion was performed and that provides OB-GYN services.
STATUS
This bill (and its companion HB 2816) did not pass during the regular legislative session, but Texas’ omnibus abortion bill (HB 2), which Gov. Rick Perry signed into law on July 18, 2013 during the second special legislative session, contains a nearly identical admitting privileges provision.
