Full Bill Text
SB 50 would exclude from the definition of ambulatory surgical center any private physicians’ office except those in which one or more medical or surgical abortions are performed.
Current law exempts those offices in which “a substantial number” of abortions are performed.
This bill would require facilities or physicians’ offices where any abortions are performed in a calendar year to be licensed as ambulatory surgical treatment centers, and require such offices to convert into mini-hospitals.
STATUS
SB 716, HB 948, SB 1280, and HB 1368 also attempt to redefine ambulatory surgical center, but those bills use different definitional requirements.
