SB 6 would prohibit a physician from performing an abortion on a pregnant person without first displaying the sonogram images of the fetus so that the pregnant person may view the images.
The physician would be required to provide a verbal explanation of the images, including a medical description of the dimensions of the fetus, the presence of cardiac activity, and the presence of external members and internal organs.
The bill would further prohibit a physician from performing an abortion on a pregnant person without first making audible the heart auscultation, if present, of the fetus. The physician would be required to provide a verbal explanation of the heart auscultation as well.
The abortion facility would need to document any instance where a patient declines to receive verbal explanations.
