SB 102 would amend informed consent requirements to require physicians to provide information regarding sex trafficking to any patient seeking abortion services.
In addition to current informed consent requirements, the bill would require a physician to provide the pregnant patient written notification, prepared and provided to each abortion facility by the Department of Social Services, that contains the name and telephone number of an organization fighting to end sex trafficking. The notification should state the following:
“If someone is sexually abusing you or causing you to exchange sex for something of value, and you want help, call 911, or the telephone number provided on this notice.”
STATUS
Passed the senate on February 3, 2017 by a 33-0 vote.
Passed the house on February 28, 2017 by a 66-1 vote.
