HB 1933 would prohibit certain benefit packages for children’s health care and medical assistance from including gender or sex reassignment surgery or gender or sex transition services.
The bill would prohibit the use of taxpayer dollars to provide gender-reassignment surgery under the Medical Assistance program and the Children’s Health Insurance Program.
Benefit packages for each program would be prohibited from including reimbursement for gender or sex reassignment surgery or gender or sex transition services, including, but not limited to, physician’s services, inpatient and outpatient hospital services, prescribed drugs or counseling services related to such surgery or services.
Related Legislation
Similar to an amendment found in HB 1388, a CHIP reauthorization bill. The amendment, which prohibited similar coverage, was eventually stripped and HB 1933 was introduced instead.
