New Jersey Bill Increasing Criminal Penalties for the Sale of Fetal Tissue (A 2814)
This law was last updated on Feb 5, 2018
A 2814 would increase criminal penalties for the purchase or sale of cadaveric fetal tissue.
Under the current law in New Jersey, violators could be found guilty of a crime of the third degree, which is punishable by imprisonment of three to five years, and subject to a fine up to $50,000. This bill would increase the crime to the second degree, which is punishable by imprisonment of five to ten years, with a fine up to $300,000.
A 4743 would also require the Commissioner of Health to adopt regulations requiring the tracking, documentation, and certification of costs associated with the processing, transportation, and storage of donated fetal tissue.
