LB 1032 would have required reproductive health-care facilities that conduct abortions to post signs that say it is “against the law for anyone to force you to have an abortion.” The bill would have required signs to be posted in each patient waiting room and patient consultation room of all freestanding surgical outpatient clinics. All other health-care facilities that perform abortions would have been required to post a sign in each patient admission area.
The bill states that any health-care facility that fails to post a sign would be required to pay a fine of $10,000 and that a separate violation will be assessed for each day that an abortion, other than an abortion necessary to prevent the death of a woman, is performed in a facility that fails to post the sign during business hours.
STATUS
The bill was referred to the Judiciary Committee but was indefinitely postponed on April 17, 2014.
