LB 782 would prohibit state funds from being utilized to pay for elective abortion services or to promote elective abortion of a pregnancy.
The bill would allow lower-income women in Nebraska to receive Medicaid coverage for family planning services.
This bill also appropriates $500,000 a year for the next two years from the state’s General Fund to the Department of Health to be used for the Every Woman Matters program for the following purposes: reimbursement for the provision of mammograms, breast examinations, pap smears, colposcopy, associated laboratory costs, and education and outreach.
The funds may be leveraged to match any federal or private funding, but may not be used for abortion services.
