HB 2592 would require a minor to be granted consent to an abortion by court order prior to obtaining an abortion.
Current Missouri law prohibits a physician from performing an abortion on anyone under the age of eighteen without first securing the informed written consent of the minor and one parent or guardian.
This bill would require the minor (who has already consented and obtained parental consent) to also have been granted consent to the abortion by court order and the court to have given its informed written consent.
The bill would also require an emancipated minor to have been granted consent to the abortion by court order and the court to have given its informed written consent.
