Missouri Bill Regarding Public School Restrooms (HB 2303)
This law was last updated on Jul 13, 2016
HB 2303 would require schools to designate bathrooms and changing rooms for the exclusive use of one sex.
The bill defines “sex” to mean the physical condition of being male or female, as identified at birth by an individual’s anatomy.
A student may not use a bathroom designated for the sex different than their own; however, a school district must allow a student to use a student bathroom or changing room designated for a different sex if no other students are present and an administrator or staff member of the school district accompanies the students into the student bathroom or changing room. School districts may designate single occupant facilities for use by both sexes.
