HB 58 would require the Department of Health and Senior Services to use expert medical guidance to designate levels of maternal and neonatal care at hospitals and birthing centers.

The bill would not include pregnancy termination or counseling or referral for pregnancy termination when establishing the criteria for levels of maternal and neonatal care.

If passed, patients with high-risk pregnancies may not have access to all the medically appropriate options available to them.
