HB 488 would require a report to be filed for any spontaneous fetal death that occurs after nine weeks of gestation.
Current state law requires a report for each spontaneous fetal death of 20 completed weeks gestation to be reported within seven days after delivery to the local registrar or as otherwise directed by the state registrar.
This means that fetal death reports would no longer only be required in the event of a stillbirth, but also for any miscarriage after nine weeks of pregnancy.
