HB 1179 would provide that abortion facilities in the state of Mississippi would require a certificate of need.
The bill defines “abortion facility” to mean a facility that is operating substantially for the purpose of performing abortions, and is a separate identifiable legal entity from any other health care facility, and that requires a license as an abortion facility.
The bill also prohibits any person or other entity, from establishing, conducting, operating, or maintaining an ambulatory surgical facility or an abortion facility in Mississippi without a license.
