HB 184 would have amended previous legislation to require a woman considering an abortion to have a face-to-face consultation with a doctor and discuss ultrasound opportunities.

It would have required that a physician performing abortions meet in-person with the patient at least 24 hours before the scheduled procedure to answer patient questions and inform the patient of ultrasound imaging opportunities.

The bill also would have created fines and penalties for violating Kentucky law prohibiting the use of public funds for abortion (KRS 311.75). Violations would also have been reported to the Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure.

STATUS

Referred to Health and Welfare Committee. Died in committee.
