Kansas Honoring Crisis Pregnancy Centers (SCR 1606)
This law was last updated on Sep 15, 2016
This concurrent resolution officially honors pregnancy maintenance resource centers also known as crisis pregnancy centers (CPCs) throughout Kansas.
At first glance enacting proclamations honoring CPCs around the country seems harmless, however this strategy lends legitimacy and government approval to CPCs despite their deceptive tactics. The resolution contains language commending the work of CPCs; acknowledging the so-called contributions they make to women’s reproductive health; encouraging federal and state funding for CPCs; and denouncing reproductive rights organizations that work to expose their deceptive tactics. This bill is based on model legislation drafted by the Americans United for Life (AUL).
This resolution was adopted by both the Senate and the House, enrolled, and then presented to the Secretary of State on April 4, 2013.
