Iowa Forced Ultrasound Bill (HF 58)
This law was last updated on Jan 26, 2015
HF 58 would have required that prior to performing an abortion, a physician certify in the woman’s medical record that the woman has undergone an ultrasound imaging of the fetus; that the woman has been given the opportunity to view the ultrasound image of the fetus; and that the woman has been given the option of hearing a description of the ultrasound image and hearing the heartbeat of the fetus.
This bill was withdrawn on March 12. HF 573, which is virtually identical, was introduced on March 9.
